BBQ Baked Chicken Thighs are a delicious and easy-to-make dish, perfect for any meal. The chicken is seasoned with a flavorful spice rub and coated in barbecue sauce for a tasty finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) to create a spice rub.
  3. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken thighs, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Place the chicken thighs skin-side up on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  6. Remove the chicken from the oven and brush a generous amount of barbecue sauce on each thigh.
  7. Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the skin is crispy.
  8. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken thighs in the spice rub for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.
  • Try using different barbecue sauces, such as honey mustard or spicy chipotle, to customize the flavor to your liking.
