Ingredients
Scale
1 pint cherry tomatoes
8 ounces fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
1 bunch fresh basil leaves
1/4 cup balsamic glaze
Salt and pepper to taste
Wooden skewers or toothpicks
Instructions
Begin by rinsing the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves under cold water. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
On each skewer or toothpick, thread one cherry tomato, followed by a basil leaf, and then a mozzarella ball. Repeat this pattern until the skewer is filled, leaving a little space at the end for easy handling.
Continue assembling the skewers until all ingredients are used, typically yielding about 12-15 skewers.
Arrange the skewers on a serving platter and drizzle with balsamic glaze. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
For an added flavor boost, marinate the mozzarella balls in olive oil, minced garlic, and Italian herbs for a few hours before assembling the skewers.
Substitute the cherry tomatoes with roasted red peppers or add slices of avocado for a different twist on the classic Caprese flavor.
