- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons loose black tea or 2 black tea bags
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
- Pinch of salt
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and add the loose black tea or tea bags. Steep for 5 minutes.
- Strain the tea into a separate pot or remove the tea bags.
- Add the milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, honey or sugar, and a pinch of salt to the brewed tea.
- Return the mixture to low heat and warm gently, stirring until the sweetener is dissolved and the tea is heated through (do not boil).
- Taste and adjust sweetness or cinnamon as desired.
- Pour into cups and enjoy warm, or chill in the refrigerator for an iced version.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or a few whole cloves while steeping the tea.
- Substitute the black tea with chai tea for a more aromatic experience, or use herbal tea for a caffeine-free option.
