For the Filling
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Cheddar can be used as a substitute.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Nutritional yeast for a vegan option.
  • 4 cloves minced garlic Fresh garlic is preferred.
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley Optional for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Prepare Yeast Mixture: In a small bowl, combine warm milk with active dry yeast. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, and garlic powder until well combined.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Pour the yeast mixture and melted butter into the dry ingredients, stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead Dough: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour.
  6. Prepare Filling: In a separate bowl, mix mozzarella, Parmesan, minced garlic, and parsley until evenly blended.
  7. Shape Cruffins: Roll out risen dough into a rectangle, brush with butter, sprinkle filling, roll into a log and slice into 12 pieces.
  8. Second Rise: Place slices upright in a greased muffin tin, cover and let rise for 30 to 45 minutes.
  9. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F, bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool: Allow cruffins to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
