Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying
  • Chopped green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well.
  2. Dip each piece of chicken into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Then, dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Set aside.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Heat over medium heat until it begins to simmer, then reduce heat and let it cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken pieces in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In a large bowl, toss the fried chicken with the honey garlic sauce until evenly coated.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
