Step-by-Step Instructions for Easy Cauldron Cookies
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three mini muffin pans with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Devil's Food Cake Mix, large eggs, canola or vegetable oil, and black food coloring if using. Mix for 2–3 minutes until smooth.
  3. Using a 1/2 tablespoon scoop, place small amounts of dough into each greased muffin cup. Flatten slightly with fingers.
  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are set yet soft. Press the back of a spoon into the center of each cookie to create a cauldron shape.
  5. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Beat together softened unsalted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt in a mixing bowl for 2–3 minutes. Gradually add milk for a smooth consistency.
  7. Add green food coloring to frosting and mix. Swirl buttercream into each cookie indentation with a piping bag.
