  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Ginger Grated; ground ginger can be a substitute
  • 1 pinch Crushed Red Pepper Flakes Adjust according to spice preference
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch For thickening the sauce; arrowroot powder is gluten-free
  • 2 tablespoons Water To create a slurry with cornstarch
For Garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Green Onions Optional garnish for freshness

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs and sear for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove from skillet.
  2. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add soy sauce, brown sugar, bourbon, garlic, ginger, and crushed red pepper. Stir and bring to a simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Slowly pour the slurry into the sauce while whisking. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  4. Return the chicken to the skillet and coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  5. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot over rice or veggies.
